Trip Days and Playing Groups¶
Sarah has created the Morocco trip and added all 12 participants. Now she needs to set up each day of golf and organise who plays with whom.
Understanding Trip Days¶
Each day of golf on a trip is a Trip Day. When Sarah creates a trip day, PazGolf automatically creates a competition for that day's round.
This means:
- Scores are tracked through the normal competition system
- Leaderboards work automatically
- Handicaps are applied correctly
- Everything links back to the trip
Adding Trip Days¶
Creating Day 1¶
From the trip dashboard, Sarah clicks Add Day.
She fills in the day details:
| Field | What Sarah Enters |
|---|---|
| Date | 6th February 2026 |
| Title | Day 1 - Mazagan Resort |
| Course | Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort |
| Format | Stableford |
| Description | Individual Stableford, full handicap |
Sarah clicks Save and the day is created.
What Gets Created¶
PazGolf automatically:
- Creates a competition for that date
- Links it to the trip
- Enters all participants into the competition
- Sets up the correct handicap rules
Sarah doesn't need to manually create a competition or enter players - it's all handled.
Adding More Days¶
Sarah repeats this for each round:
- Day 2 - 7th February - Fourball Betterball
- Day 3 - 8th February - Team Texas Scramble
- Day 4 - 9th February - Individual Stableford (Final Day)
Managing Playing Groups¶
Now Sarah needs to decide who plays with whom each day. She clicks on Day 1 to manage its groups.
The Groups Page¶
Sarah sees all participants listed, ready to be assigned to groups.
Generating Groups Automatically¶
Sarah clicks Generate Groups and chooses how to organise players:
Random Groups¶
Shuffles players randomly into groups of 3-4. Good for mixing people up.
By Handicap¶
Groups players with similar handicaps together. Creates more competitive groups where everyone is at a similar level.
By Team¶
Keeps team members together (for team events). Useful when Europe plays against Internationals within each group.
Captain's Pick¶
For team matchplay events, captains secretly order their players. Position 1 plays Position 1, and so on. Creates drama and strategy! Includes an optional reveal ceremony for the big screen.
Learn more about Captain's Pick →
Sarah selects By Team for Day 1 (since it's a team competition) and clicks Generate.
Viewing Generated Groups¶
PazGolf creates three groups of 4 players:
| Group 1 | Group 2 | Group 3 |
|---|---|---|
| Sophie (Europe) | Elena (Europe) | Ingrid (Europe) |
| Lars (Europe) | Marco (Europe) | Patrick (Europe) |
| Mia (Internationals) | Jack (Internationals) | Carlos (Internationals) |
| Kenji (Internationals) | Priya (Internationals) | Emma (Internationals) |
Each group has 2 players from each team for head-to-head matches.
Adjusting Groups Manually¶
Sarah notices that Sophie and Lars always play together - she wants to split them up. She can drag and drop players between groups to adjust.
She drags Lars from Group 1 to Group 2, swapping with Elena.
Setting Tee Times¶
Adding Tee Times¶
Sarah clicks on Group 1 to add their tee time.
She enters 08:00 as their tee time. The subsequent groups are typically spaced 10 minutes apart:
- Group 1: 08:00
- Group 2: 08:10
- Group 3: 08:20
Shotgun Starts¶
For a shotgun start (everyone starts at the same time on different holes), Sarah can set the starting hole for each group:
- Group 1: Hole 1
- Group 2: Hole 5
- Group 3: Hole 10
Different Groups Each Day¶
Sarah can set up completely different groups for each day. Players don't have to play with the same people throughout the trip.
For Day 2 (Fourball Betterball), she might use By Handicap grouping to create competitive matches.
For Day 4 (Final Day), she might use Random to mix everyone up one last time.
Each day's groups are managed independently.
What Players See¶
My Group Display¶
When Sophie logs in on Day 1, she can see her playing group for each day:
She sees:
- Which group she's in
- Who she's playing with
- The tee time
- Which course
This helps everyone know where to be and when.
Finding Your Group¶
From the trip dashboard, participants can click on any day to see all the groups - helpful if someone needs to find a playing partner.
Handling Uneven Numbers¶
11 Players? No Problem¶
If Sarah has 11 players (doesn't divide evenly into 4s), PazGolf suggests:
- Two groups of 4
- One group of 3
The 3-ball can play Niner as their side game (designed for exactly 3 players).
Player Drops Out¶
If someone can't make a particular day, Sarah can remove them from that day's groups without affecting other days.
Quick Actions¶
From the trip dashboard, Sarah can quickly:
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| View all groups for a day | Click the day |
| Regenerate groups | Click Generate Groups again |
| Add/remove tee times | Click on a group |
| Copy groups to another day | Click Copy Groups |
Next Steps¶
With days and groups set up, the trip is ready for play. During the trip:
- Players enter scores using the normal score entry
- Side games can be added for extra fun
- Leaderboard updates automatically
